Notes
  • Verbs are divided into conjugations based on the patterns that they follow.
    • Remember how nouns are divided into declensions based on their endings.
    • In general, verbs from any conjugation will have the same personal endings (most, must, isnt).
o    The main difference between verbs of different conjugations will be in the verb stem (and sometimes the rules that they follow when conjugating).
·         What do you already know about verb conjugations that would make the verb stems for each conjugation different?
o    The conjugation is identified based on the vowel before the -re in the 2nd principal part.
o    That would mean that each conjugation’s verb stem has a different vowel.
  • 1st & 2nd conjugation always form their present stem the same way: take the -re off of the 2nd principal part
·         4th conjugation also follows this rule, but adds a ‘u’ in between the stem and the ending in 3rd person plural: audiunt = they hear
·         veniō, venīre, vēnī, ventūrus

Symbolum Apostolorum

  • Apostle’s Creed
    • We’re going to do the Creed a little bit at a time and build up to the whole thing.

Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem, Creatorem caeli et terrae. Et in Iesum
Christum, Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum, qui conceptus est de Spiritu
Sancto, natus ex Maria Virgine, passus sub Pontio Pilato, crucifixus, mortuus, et
sepultus, descendit ad infernos, tertia die resurrexit a mortuis, ascendit ad caelos,
sedet ad dexteram Dei Patris omnipotentis, inde venturus est iudicare vivos et
mortuos. Credo in Spiritum Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam catholicam, sanctorum
communionem, remissionem peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem, vitam aeternam.
Amen.
