Warm-up
·
Be prepared to use
the Latin phrases you learned last week to:
o introduce yourself to the class in Latin.
§ we talked about Roman naming conventions:
§ 3 names: praenomen, nomen, cognomen
§ praenomina were not really varied
§ guys were almost always one of the following: Gaius,
Marcus, Lucius, Titus, Quintus, Sextus, Publius
§ girls were given the female equivalent of their father’s
name (so if Gaius had a daughter her name would be Gaia)
§ If a family had more than one daughter they would be
named in number sequence: Secunda (second daughter), Tertia (third daughter)
§ praenomina were used only by close family and friends,
not acquaintances
o ask permission to go to the restroom.
§ be prepared to do this from now on!

Fatima Prayer
· The Decade Prayer for the rosary, commonly known as the Fatima Prayer, was revealed
by Our Lady of Fatima on July 13, 1917. She asked the three shepherd children, Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia, to recite it at the end of each decade of the rosary.
February 21
- On
February 21st you have two options for extra credit:
- participate in Area Convention
- OR perform at the book fair
- Saturday
February 21st, 1-4pm
- You will need to do some sort
of Latin performance (skit, puppet show, reading, or speech)
- You must appear in costume (e.g. toga)
- You must rehearse your presentation for Magistra
Goertz before or after school on Tuesday, 2/17
- You will need to complete some paperwork (permission
slip, verification sheet) in order to receive credit
